I am a resident of Washington, DC area. Since my childhood I have drawn in black and white (pen & ink) looking for the best way to capture the shadows.
Primarily, I am a self-taught artist, and created my own style. Because of the number of details, I have to plan the entire drawing carefully in advance.
For me, the quality of the pictures is in the details. I spend at least three months at my drawing board in order to complete each piece carefully. Working from foreground to background, I have learned to deal with the mistakes that occur when going from color photographs to a black and white drawing, especially when trying to suggest the correct texture, angle and shadows.
The path to a career in art was not exactly straightforward for me. In 1981, I was officer member of the Special Forces in the Air Force, when I became paraplegic due a parachute accident. Jumping a thousand feet from a C-130 Hercules, my main and reserve chute failed.
The Air Force sent me to the Veterans Hospital in Boston. From 1981 until 1983 I was a patient there where I went through rehabilitation.
When I was able, I began to draw again at the hospital. Arts had an important role in my rehabilitation and greatly helped me return to my daily life.
The subjects of my drawings are local places and houses around the world.
Some of my pictures are in private collections of United States, Italy, Spain, Luxemburg and Argentina.
